+ Q. Are you accepting new clients?

A. I am not currently accepting new clients for clinical services. I am still accepting new clients for supervision and consultation. Please contact me with additional questions.

+Q. Where will we meet?

A. We can meet either virtually, via a secure HIPAA-compliant telehealth service, or in person at my downtown Indy office. I only offer the option of in-person sessions on Fridays. Virtual/telehealth sessions are always available, regardless of day.

+ Q. Do you take insurance for clinical services?

A. I do! Insurance plans that I can accept are listed below. If you choose to work with me and you have insurance that I am not currently paneled with, you can request a monthly superbill to submit to your insurance provider for out-of-network reimbursement. I am also enrolled in a program called Reimbursify that aims to make this process easier for you and gives you one free out-of-network claim.

Insurance accepted by Brave Space Counseling:

  • Aetna

  • Anthem BCBS (commercial, not state-based)

  • Optum/United Healthcare/UMR

+ Q. What are your rates?

A. My hourly rates for clinical work are as follows:

  • Intake: $160

  • Individual sessions: $110 - $130

  • Couples & Family sessions: $130 - $160

If you need a gender-affirming surgery/treatment letter for your insurance provider, I am happy to write a letter for you, free of charge. I’ve signed the GALAP pledge, declaring my belief and commitment that trans healthcare should be accessible to all, regardless of the ability to pay. If you only require a letter and do not need ongoing therapy, we only have to meet once. If you would like to discuss working together on an ongoing basis after our evaluation, I’m happy to continue that discussion!

My supervision rates are the same as my individual session rates. If you are interested in group supervision to share the cost, I can provide a customized quote for your group. For a consultation with your office, please contact me and I will gladly give you a specially tailored rate and hours estimate.

+ Q. How often will we meet?

A. My preference would be that we meet at a minimum biweekly, though preferably weekly, while we are getting to know one another at the beginning of our work together. Once we understand your goals and what support you need to achieve them, if it appears that we do not need to meet as frequently we can always adjust the frequency. I am very understanding of everyone living busy lives and will do my best to work with you to meet your needs.

+Q. How long do sessions last?

A. 50-60 minutes each, with the option to extend longer if requested or deemed necessary.

+Q: Do you have evening or weekend hours?

A. I have evening hours, but not weekends:

  • Wednesdays from 2-7 PM

  • Thursdays from 10 AM - 7 PM

  • Fridays from 10 AM - 7 PM

My latest appointment slot is 6 PM.

+ Q. Are you queer and/or trans-friendly?

A. Abso-freaking-lutely! I truly adore working with trans and gender non-conforming people. From a personal perspective, as a member of the queer community myself and having several gender-diverse friends and chosen family, I delight in being invited on your journey to becoming more yourself and would be honored to support you through it. It is also something that I am continually seeking training on to make sure I am as informed as possible about the issues facing our community.

+ Q. What does "religious trauma" mean?

A. Good question! The way I define religious trauma is any kind of impactful negative experience that has happened to you via a spiritual leader or institution. It can include a personal assault by a leader or institution, but it does not have to. It can simply be that the beliefs and ideas that were taught to you via a spiritual leader or institution ultimately did not support your identity or understanding of self, causing shame, guilt, or other personal crises.

+Q. What will the first session be like?

A. Before starting sessions, I like to always do a 15-minute consultation with new people to answer any questions and see if we will be a good fit before beginning our work together. Once the consultation is complete, if you decide that you want to move forward in working with me, we will schedule your first appointment. You will receive an email from me with a unique link that will take you to your HIPAA-compliant and secure client portal. There will be a set of consent forms and intake documents to review and complete at least 24 hours before your first session. At our first session, we will review your intake and our confidentiality agreements and practice policies to make sure we both understand the boundaries around our work together. We will then clarify some goals and issues that you hope to work on during therapy. During our first session, we may not be able to dive into the meat of the work, but we will more likely be creating the space to start in the best way possible.

+ Q. I'm ready! What should I bring?

A. Yay! Logistically speaking, if you are using insurance, please upload your insurance card to your portal and review your policy for information about your deductible, copays, coinsurance, or out-of-pocket maximums that we will review in our initial consultation. Less logistically, it is incredibly helpful if you can identify what you want to get out of therapy, what barriers you feel are currently in the way of achieving those goals, how you want to feel, and what you want to learn. And, not to be understated, please bring an open and curious attitude to our sessions. Your success in achieving your goals hinges on your willingness to explore patterns and moments in your life with genuine curiosity and an openness to being challenged to think in new and creative ways to change those patterns that ultimately don't serve you and create new patterns that do. I'm so looking forward to working with you!

Every single one wants to matter. We want our lives, and our stories and the choices we made or didn’t make to matter...It all matters.
